Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) are basically the post-secondary schools in India constituted under Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Union Government to provide training in various engineering and non-engineering trades. Candidates are provided admission to various courses in ITI on the basis of written/entrance examination. ITIs are known for providing training in 80 engineering and 50 non-engineering trades.

Educational Eligibility –
The basic eligibility criteria prescribed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and PSBTE and IT, Chandigarh for joining ITI courses is as follows:
- Minimum educational qualification required for the candidates to appear for the exam is Class X.
- Minimum age limit for a candidate prescribed is 14 years and maximum age limit is 40 years.
- Maximum age limit for candidates with special needs is 35 years.
- A relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit is given to the ex-servicemen and widows of servicemen martyred on service.
